Back from Leyte!
In several barangays (villages) in Tacloban & Ormoc we distributed hygiene kits, medicines, coloring books and crayons. We've also adopted the hard-hit barangay Mahayag to rebuild its completely devasted elementary school and we've completed a feeding program there as well for 200 children with multi-vitamin packs of local nutritious ingredients. Here's a short documentary video about it on Dutch National TV channel EénVandaag (Jan. 4, 2014):
Furthermore, we've invested in a quality chainsaw that will be operated and circulated under supervision of the Rural Development Institute Leyte (RDIL) in different barangays to convert fallen & destroyed trees into the needed lumber to rebuild people's homes.
After the outbreak of Dengue in Ormoc one month later, we've returned there to distribute 800 mosquito nets & several boxes of medicines in the coastal areas. As many families in upland areas were extremely cold at nights due to low pressure storms and many of their homes were not rebuilt yet, we've also distributed 800 blankets in this area.
